What kind of jacket would be okay to wear over a halter wedding dress?

The dress is an ivory satin and very plain (just has a small flower on the waist line that can be removed). I would like something that covers up upper arms and my back.

If you can find a picture, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

i satin wrap could be nice or look at this page

something like the cropped jacket on there might look great with your dress
Reply:I really like the jacket this bride is wearing http://gablesn.com/Winter%20025ax%20Medi...

I know you may not be interested, I don't know what kind of veil you want, or if you even want one. but a lace mantilla veil would cover up your back as well as your arms. Here is what I am talking about. http://cgi.ebay.com/GORGEOUS-IVORY-LACE-...

Just a thought...
Reply:Because it is halter You want ajacket that has a higher neck/collar so that it completely covers the halter. like this:

Reply:What you are looking for is a shrug.

This one is sheer chiffon and would match almost anything. Just gives a little mesh over the arms so they photograph nicer.

This works really well.

Did anyone else out there have trouble with their flowers from FTD not being delivered 2/14/07?

I ordered from FTD online on 2/12/07. The website says the flowers were delivered, but they weren't.

The customer service line "isn't taking calls at this time" (so much for 24/hr a day service!)

I was wondering if there might be some widespread problem that has them all tied up?

I emailed customer service and have not received a response.

NOW I have to file a dispute with my credit card that will take 3-6 weeks to resolve.

I wil NEVER use FTD again!

Did anyone else out there have trouble with their flowers from FTD not being delivered 2/14/07?
Yeah, I had the same problem. I ordered flowers for my wife on the 8th, delivery was set for the 14th. Since it wasn't delivered I checked the tracking and it didn't leave the florist until the 14th. That was from Ohio, we live in California. I have no idea what they're thinking. I feel embarrassed having them show up a day late, even though my wife says she doesn't care. NO ONE I KNOW WILL EVER USE FTD AGAIN. If there was a problem with weather I can deal with that...but why did they leave the florist the day they were supposed to be delivered, and aren't there local shops they can be sent from? There are no weather problems in CA. An email or some form of communication would have been nice.
Reply:The same thing happened to me. I'm furious. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau, they have resolved issues for me before. I suggest you all should do the same. Good luck Report It

Reply:I did but I found out they don't deliver to federal prisons so I wasn't surprised.
Reply:My boss did , he orded them (2-9-07) and wanted them sent to the office on V-Day, (because the office is not open on wekeds) they delivered them the next day (2-10), which was a saturday, that Monday I came to the office and they were at the front door, and they got frozen and of course runied. BELIVE me he was not happy..... so yeah they SUCK..
Reply:a lot of flower services had problems because most of the north east was hit with a horrible storm and it caused them to have to cancle deliveries and reschedule them for today. i would say if you dont get them today (or whomever was recieving them doesnt) call them again and get your money back. i know a few places were giving a $20 refund because of the problem
Reply:No... but you may have cuz I wuz watcing the newz this morning and it said they delivered late cuz of the weather.
Reply:Right there with you-- FTD promised shipping on 2/14, it's 2/15 and still no sign of those flowers! They might have a glitch-- hope you get more answers to prove it! NO FTD-- your local florist can do the same thing for the same price with better guarantees and service...

Is incest a good plot line?

other then Flowers in the Attic and some other V.C. Andrews books, which there was a good excuse for it, has any other book or story did an incest plot? I was thinking of doing one that was based in the present time about a brother and a sister who fall for each other. Is it a good story line or will people be too grossed out by it?

Is incest a good plot line?
Anything CAN be a good plotline. It depends on how you approach it. Something edgy, like incest, can actually make a better story than "safer" topics, if it's handled correctly.

In the series "A Song of Fire and Ice," Cersei and Jaime Lannister are incestuous twins; the (paraphrased) explanation Cersei gives was along the lines of: "From my earliest memories, he was the only person I ever loved, ever trusted, ever cared about and knew for sure cared about me. He knows me better than myself; we are closer than anyone else can imagine being." Of course, Cersei is the villain, and her brother's not much better, but still - the relationship was presented in a way that was both plausible and sympathetic.

Any situation where the brother and sister are forced to turn to and rely on each other - orphaned, distant or abusive parents, thrust into confusing or dangerous situations before they're ready for them... the bond of affection and protectiveness can easily shift into sexual attraction and romantic interest.

Elements I've seen in incest stories that work:

1) Forced to grow up too fast

2) Lack of respected authority figures, or else authority figures that do not enforce societal norms

3) "Us against the world" mentality, causing them to spend a lot of time together and distrust anyone else

4) Sense of superiority - the belief that they are somehow a cut above the rest of the world, perhaps by virtue of intelligence, money, good breeding, what have you, thus prompting a "your rules don't apply to us" mentality

5) An awareness that the rest of the world would not accept them, and that by making their relationship public, they would be hurting the one they love - gotta have that edge of angsty tragedy.

Make the reader love the characters. Make them real people, not caricatures. If the reader properly identifies with a character, he's more likely to be sympathetic when the character does something shocking.
Reply:Eh...it grosses me out except for the way VC Andrews did it, you could understand it in Cathy and Chris's case, but 'a brother and sister who falls for each other' just doesn't sound right to me. If I were to read it, it would be out of mildly disgusted curiosity.
Reply:can you say Oedipus ?
Reply:yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:It's been overdone. The others here have named several in addition to the ones you named. There is also "Princess Daisy" which was a big best seller and blockbuster movie in it's day and time. Almost the same plot that you mention. You will always get some shock value if you choose to use it as a plot line.

Edit: I wanted to add that the key element is to make the reader LIKE your characters, so that they don't think of their OWN siblings. For instance, Princess Daisy was a somewhat sexy book, but if it had made me think of sex with my own sister, I would have been sticking my finger down my throat.
Reply:I can only speak for myself but...EW!
Reply:"The Hotel New Hampshire" by John Irving deals with the taboo of incest very effectively in my opinion.

Several 18th century novels suggest incestuous relationships (accidental) only to find out later that they were not really incestuous. See Tom Jones, for example. Finally, there is "Candy." by Terry Sothern and Mason Hoffenberg. "Good grief, it's Daddy."
Reply:'Slapstick' by Kurt Vonnegut had a brother and sister in love with each other and when they were together they were off-the-scale geniuses. When they were found out, they were separated and lost their tremendous mental powers. Its a good read, but like all of Vonneguts work its about as off the wall as you can get.

I think that controversial subject matter such as incest is alright but it has to go somewhere or else you're just trying to get a reaction. Just my opinion.
Reply:There are a few films about incest too, and I have one up my sleeve myself, but I think with controversial subjects like that you have to be careful to make it believable and realistic. It is an unusual situation for a brother and sister to fall in love and you have to consider the reasons behind it. As you craft your story, think about the message it's giving.

A lot of people will be squeamish about certain subjects, but taboo things do happen in the real world - why shouldn't we write about them? Stories should be able to shock and challenge - that's half the point.

I'm struggling myself at the moment with a controversial subject that's popped into my story all by itself. (Even more controversial than incest!) In the story it's logical and meaningful - even symbolic - but it's difficult to know whether people will be alienated by it.

I suppose whatever you write, not everyone's gonna like it anyway!

I think if you don't overdo it and you make it meaningful and challenging (not just a soppy romance that happens to be between siblings) you'll be ok.

Good luck!
Reply:I think you just have to be careful. In some kinds of books/stories, it's seems like it's just sensationalism. Unless the context makes it clear that the incest isn't just there for shock value, it would probably disgust many/most people.

A. S. Byatt covers incest in a way that's not exploitative. In her novella Morpho Eugenia (also a movie), incest between siblings is not a major plot point, and is used as a parallel between humanity and the lower orders of nature.
Reply:Mourning Becomes Electra
Reply:Incest is a big taboo in our society, unless its a very minor area in your story that explains why a character behaves a certain way or acts a certain way I dont recommend it. I would stick to a more main stream idea that most audiences can relate to.

If its a case where they didn't know they were related or something of that nature.... maybe....

Good luck

Any Florists out there with advice?

I graduated from university this past august, and am already tired of corporate america. I've thought for a while that I would enjoy working in a flower shop, but am not sure how to pursue a job with a florist. By that I mean learning to be one myself, not just ringing up the flowers. My qualifications don't line up at all, yet... (I had a roommate whose mother worked in a florist's shop so I'm not ENTIRELY naive about the demands of wedding season and its brides, or the finger toughness necessary to wire countless roses) -- any tips/suggestions on how to approach so drastic a career change?

Any Florists out there with advice?
Before you go to any flower shop for a job, ask your self a few questions. Are you good under stress, Can you work very long hours for no pay, are you willing to work every holiday and what do you really expect from your training, if you don't know what to expect, then what are you goals and dreams for 5 years down the road.

The Flower business is one of the hardest businesses to be in. Orders come in last minute and everything has to be made last minute. Your dealing with a perishable product and the shop that you work for will probably be turning over it’s complete stock every two to 3 days. You will work late on Friday nights to prep/finish for Saturday wedding, you will work late on Saturday to prep/finish Sundays wedding. On a normal Friday, you will work 9am to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 7pm. If there are wedding(s) during a florist holiday, i.e. Mother’s day or Valentine’s Day you will work until 1am, Owners will work even later. You will be on your feet all day, In busy shops there are no chairs, chairs cut down on the amount of work you can do and how fast you can do it. Time is Money.

You will work Mother’s day, Thanksgiving Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and some florist work Christmas Day. Don’t ask off any days during those weeks because they will just fire you and hire the next person that will work.

A normal workweek for employee is 40 hours, but at times of the year 50-60 hours happen. Owner will work 60-70 hours. No Benefits.

Sorry I do not want to scare you, it’s just the way it is.

Before you go for your first florist job, you will want to go to a high volume shop that the owners are florist and that are there on a day to day basis. This is how you will get the best training. Most better flower shops are Family owned, the family will train you and treat you like family, especially after you become good, but then they will expect you to show up or stay when someone calls out, just like family. I would stay away from very large florist or florist with absentee owner, they have managers that will not train you well.

I prefer the applicants that apply to my shop to look presentable, but not so dressed that I feel that you do not want to get dirty, you will get dirty. No long nails, you cannot tie balloons with long nails. Be honest, tell them you want to be a florist and that your willing to work when needed but you need training. Don’t bring a Resume, There is no other job like a florist, so you are just wasting my time to read it, and it maybe held against you if you have had many jobs. Florists are looking for Reliability, That you show up all the time, on time and that you are going to work for them forever. Training if you went to school to be a florist is about $2000. I feel it takes 3 years of working in a florist before your any good. Some florist will train you in exchange for not paying you. I always felt this is the wrong message. Do not work without being paid, you should be paid something even if it is only $7-8 per hour.

Is there any upside of being a florist? Yes, People share with you the special moment of their life; Births, Birthdays, anniversaries and the pain of losses. Regular customers will ask for and about you by name. You will become part of a larger family in a sense. Everyday it’s different and for the most part happy.

Does putting hair grease in your hair make you bald or your hair line go back?

Many people told me about it and I put a LOT of grease in my hair... mostly murray and 3 flowers

Does putting hair grease in your hair make you bald or your hair line go back?
No, Grease will not make you loose your hair. It might cause some sebacious (oil gland) systs or pimples on your scalp though. Because it may clog your pores %26amp; I suggest washing with a good clarifying shampoo daily to wash away the oil/grease. Wearing ball caps %26amp; hats a lot can cause breakage in your hair line %26amp; cut off some of the blood flow to the area if you wear them tight. For the most part baldness comes from your mother's dad to you if your a male. So what ever your grandpa's hair (on your mom's side) looks like yours will probably be like his someday.
Reply:no putting hair grease does not make you go bald or hair line go back. usually wearing tight pulled back hairstyles a everyday can make your hair line go back.
Reply:in theory both yes and no. in practical use yes. some products can clog your scalps pours. use a pump spay gel and not to heavily.
Reply:no way.it helps tame wild hair like mine.i got wavy hair and it gets so frizzy.i put grease and it helps.but i been using pantene pro v.the leave in conditioner lately and that helps more.and smells great too.
Reply:no
Reply:Hi there,

There are so many products to style your hair with, as shiny as you want, as stiff as you want. These products are all water soluble, so washing your hair removes it. Grease on the other hand will clog your hair follicles, either preventing a hair to appear (can't break through all the grease) or the grease can shut hair follicles down, making no hair. The hair follicles (tiny hair production) needs air, just as all of our body's pores do. I can only imagine how far down the grease has made it into your hair follicles. I hope you will switch to a more "hair friendly" product.

Meantime, when you wash your hair, use the balls of your fingers (not your fingernails) to massage your scalp. Get a shampoo for very oily hair. Hopefully, over time, all your hair follicles will begin to open up and bring forth hair.

I hope this helped. :)
Reply:Those with strong chemicals like extreme hold hair gel will (after many yrs of use) make your hair line go back, and will encourage more hair loss. However, healthy hair grease like olive oil, baby oil, and other natural oil hair produts will not get you bald, but will actually help your hair become more strong and thick.
Reply:Hair grease will do no such thing to your hair. It just influences the way it looks but not how it will or will not grow. Don't worry.
Reply:Maybe yes or maybe no. . It all depends on hair. . don't continue using if u think its bad for you, just use it once in awhile, coz the more u use it, your hair might get use to it. Once you stop, your hair needs it and hair will be damaged. Consult someone who has experience.

I would like to identify a tree in my yard?

Hi, first of all I aplogize because I know next to nothing about trees or plants so any help I'd appreciate. Okjay, there are two trees in my backyard. They're the same kind, both are taller than I am and I'm over 6 feet. On their branches there are little twigs that each have four leaves two on each side. The leaves are round and are biggest in the middle. At the topmost part is a little bulb that has sprouted little flowers that are long pink basically straight lines with pink flowers at the end. If anyone has any ideas what this is I'd be very greatful! Thanks

I would like to identify a tree in my yard?
Contact your county extension agent. They can come out and look at your tree and identify it for you. Or, pull a leaf off, and take it to them. They should be able to help you. That's what they're there for.
Reply:Need more info. A picture would help.

More details would be necessary such as:

what state are you in?

Is the tree more like 10 feet tall or 30 feet tall?

are the leaf stems opposite or alternate?

are the leaf edges toothed, lobed, or smooth?

How many petals are on the flowers? Are they all the same size or are they shaped strangely?

Try an image search for honeysuckle. There are some shrubs in this family that have pink flowers on long tubes.

Is it too late to plant tulips, Dalia and others in the south?

I want to line my driveway w/bulb flowers and my question is "is too late in the season?" I bought tulips in the container w/small sprouts.

Thank you.

Is it too late to plant tulips, Dalia and others in the south?
If the danger of a frost is past but the ground still cold, it would be okay to put the tulips in the ground. You might want to put them in the garage on the floor for a night or two, and then let them sit outside (still in the pot that you bought them in) for a night or two.also. Does the driveway get full sun? Tulips need full sun. Did you get bone meal or bulb booster? It makes them grow better. Good luck and happy growing!
Reply:Tulips would have been plants in the fall for blooming now. However, Dalias go into the gound any time now, so go for it and enjoy.

What should I put in the background of this drawing?

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t219/...

A character from a story I'm writing. Named Kiyomi. She's an innocent, shy, nature-loving type of girl. I don't know what I should put as a background for the picture. :| I think it should be something along the lines of flowers, roses, a forest, a lake, an ocean, a beach, a night sky, etc. But I can't decide! %26gt;w%26lt; Any advice?

What should I put in the background of this drawing?
it seems that if it is a innocent girl it needs some innocent background. say like one guy said a cheery blossom maybe a Japaneses shrine Whit some incense sticks and a full moon there is a dark side to her you would need to have that side leaning against her or something, but yep if you want innocent you have to think cute,
Reply:I would go with something pink, Go with pink sky and a field full of sunflowers or Poppies.
Reply:Try a sunset background.

Sunsets are very pretty ^_^!!

Reply:The first thing i noticed when i saw the picture was that her hair is sort of flowing in the wind. so the first thought that came to my mind would be a giant green field (the sound of music popped into my head) with yellow flowers and a big blue sky. Maybe some big oak trees, too.

Did you ever buy a cactus from Walmart?

and did you notice that some of the flowers are hot-glued on? I have one that has a big red papery thin flower and I was in line at Walmart getting ready to buy one with a neon green flower on and clumsy me dropped it and pop-the flowers came off and when I looked they were attached with glue! I went home to check out my cactus and it's flower was glued as well! I was kinda upset at how Walmart tried tricking me. Did any of you notice this?

Did you ever buy a cactus from Walmart?
Yep I noticed but not until after I had it for quite some time, made me feel like an idiot. Actually a co-worker pointed it out to me after noticing her Wal-Mart cactus had glued on flowers. I've now had the cactus for about 2 years and the flowers look just as good as they did the day I bought it although now most of them are just sitting in the cactus since they fell off.
Reply:They got me too! You wonder how companies get away with this scam. But I still buy from them duh!
Reply:IMHO, Wal-Mart represents everything wrong with the American consumer. 20 years ago, I bought a comforter there. It's blue dye would rub off on me while I slept.

That's right. I would wake up, dyed blue from head to toe. I washed it several times to get rid of the exess dye, but to no avail. Every morning, I was literally blue. I haven't shopped there since.

Wal-Mart's prices are so low because you get what you pay for. If we accept this by continually shopping there, we are saying that it's ok to pass this trash off on us.

BOYCOTT WAL-MART!
Reply:Yes I bought a flowered cactus there a few years ago, it was a nice plant, but of course I could kill anything at 16 yrs old. LOL!
Reply:no .may b those who broke the the plant by accident , hot-glued it .lol. these r things which hav to b handled with care. next time, pl check well before u buy anythin,%26amp;if somethin wrong, report it then %26amp;there
Reply:Yes and it didn't last long.

I have a driveway easement which I maintain and landscape. Do I need permission to put down ground cover?

We have an easement which we have lined with flowering pear trees. I have put down tree mulch for weed ebatement and beautifician. the land owner wants me to remove the ground cover.

I have a driveway easement which I maintain and landscape. Do I need permission to put down ground cover?
Technically, unless it specifically maintains the roadway, you have no right. The easement is yours; the property is his.

I'd pull it.
Reply:Not really. An easement is typically for ingress, egress, and regress. Access to your property.

If you have already planted flowering pear trees, it is probably all right to put mulch around them.

It is best to work with the owner of the property to get him to agree to the mulch. The big idea is to be a good neighbor, and that takes it one step beyond just the legal aspects of easements.
Reply:no you dont
Reply:Better check with the enviornmental police. And libs complain about conservatives intrusion on our individual rights, and personal liberties.
Reply:You have no rights on some one's,you are only responable for what you own.The land owner can make you remove anything you put on there land

What is that movie called that goes along the story line of...?

Flowers for Algernon? We were watching it today in school, and we didnt get to finish it, so i was wondering what it is called so maybe i can find the part we missed on you tube or something?

Maybe you can find it for me? or just give me the title of the movie....

What is that movie called that goes along the story line of...?
There are two versions: "Charly" (1968); and a remake for TV titled "Flowers for Algernon" (2000), using the title of the short story by Daniel Keys. It's more likely that your teacher would show the TV film since there are scenes in "Charly" that might keep it from being shown in a classroom~unless things hvae changed greatly since I taught school.

The first version stars Cliff Robertson and Claire Bloom. The second stars Matthew Modine and Kelli Williams.

I found a third version, another made-for-television production in b%26amp;w. "The Two Worlds of Charlie Gordon" was produced for "The U.S. Steel Hour" in 1961, starring Cliff Robertson. Cliff Robertson starred in this one, too. I just added this information for the heck of it I suppose.

I have a 7yr old daughter that I want to get a "Just because" gift, any suggestions, or on-line sites?

I wanted to send flowers to her school, but didn't want them getting damaged on the way home, then thought about a cake: "daddy loves you", jewelry box, necklace... Just something nice, that says to her, "My daddy loves me and is thinking about me"

I have a 7yr old daughter that I want to get a "Just because" gift, any suggestions, or on-line sites?
Balloons would be a good idea! Jewelry box is another good one...you are on the right track...maybe you could find a necklace that says daddy's little angel or something like that!

Wish more fathers were like you!
Reply:well maby u can leave a note with asome kinda jewelry on her pillow, its just a little sweet thing to do.
Reply:If she is a girly-girl, take her to a spa and get her a pedicure/manicure.

Then she can brag to her friends at school, that her daddy took her to get it done.

I have a friend that took her daughter (and friends) to do this for 8th birthday party...the girls are still talking about it! It made them feel so "grown up"
Reply:When my daughter was about 7, we got her a porcelain tea service, and my sister got her a porcelain doll. She is 21 now, and still collects both.

Something special from her daddy to this day would be a whole day with him -- no mom, no brothers, just dad, to go out to eat, go to a movie, go fishing whatever. I have 3 kids, and still believe the most precious gift you can give them is time with you.
Reply:Any kind of little jewelry that you can have engraved. Necklace would probably be best. (to avoid her losing it.) Or a monogrammed bag of some sort. Something she can use frequently to remind her of you!
Reply:how nice!give her an e-mail card and take her out,let her find something she likes!
Reply:My daughter is 5, and my boys are 8 and 10, so I can guess!

A locket came to mind, with your pictures in it, or a journal with a lock, and a note card that says what you feel. If you live close or together, time is always one of the best gifts you can give. A few hours or more together for dinner, movie, ect.. like a "date". Or just a picnic to a special place. Take a camera for those to remember photos, thats the best thing!
Reply:Try a care bear they are many different ones there come in different colours and sizes and they all have different meanings, there is one called love alt she has two hearts on her tummy, or there is wish bear with a rainbow on her tummy, you can find them at most department stores
Reply:get a locket and put a little verse or your name and her name ,she can ware it close to her heart each day , or a music box that maybe plays (you light up my life) that's so sweet, good luck

My initial thought is having several (5-6) small bush plants ( Maybe Forsythia, I live in southeastern iowa, 5a zone,

any other suggestion?) lined up at the upper part. Then put mulches underneath.

Below that we have to buy more of the same jupiter (blue rug jupiter, I guess) to put in those red-mulch area. Then put in more of the same mulch.

In between those to regions, I am debating whether to have a layer of bricks instead of the black plastic seperating things. Not sure whether that will look good at all.

At the bottom there are two flower beds on both sides of the stair. I'll prune those invading jupiters to better define the upper line. Flowers came out last spring, along with weeds. I cannot tell what to keep until some flowers bloom. Do I better redo everyting, including the fabric?

Forget the fabric. use newspaper instead. It adds organic material to the soil and cost nothing. If you put down several layers, spray a little water over them to hold them in place and then put mulch on top, you will have a nice bed.

Forsythia tends to get large. Is that what you really want?

What if you paint the fence? You could paint flowers and a birdhouse, etc along this section and then plant. Or you could simply paint it a color that matches your house and then plant.

I am from Alabama and am not certain about which plants would do best in your area. Go to a couple of really good nurseries and look around, ask questions and get some ideas. You do not have to purchase anything.

I know you may have spring fever and want plant, and plant, and plant, but it might be best to wait until the fall. That way you can save the plants you want and the new plants will have the fall to become established.

Incorrect ly pruning junipers will do more damage than good...perhaps leaving them more an eyesore than an asset.

But, the best advice I can give you is to take the time to smell the flowers.

janis
Reply:What a great area! This is just my thoughts. I'd redo the whole area. Totally get rid of the juniper. It's old school. I think another tier in there with brick would be really nice. A couple nice tree's. I love the Japanese maples. Maybe throw in a couple of butterfly bushes. They are easy to deal with. You could even do grass up at the top if you can get a mower up there...then do the trees and some shade plants down below. That would make it look more park like. Have fun. :)

Please explain what this line of the poem means (poem is "ah, are you digging on my grave?)?

Please decipher line 4 for me

"Ah, are you digging on my grave,

My loved one? -- planting rue?"

-- "No: yesterday he went to wed

One of the brightest wealth has bred.

'It cannot hurt her now,' he said,

'That I should not be true.'"

"Then who is digging on my grave,

My nearest dearest kin?"

-- "Ah, no: they sit and think, 'What use!

What good will planting flowers produce?

No tendance of her mound can loose

Her spirit from Death's gin.'"

"But someone digs upon my grave?

My enemy? -- prodding sly?"

-- "Nay: when she heard you had passed the Gate

That shuts on all flesh soon or late,

She thought you no more worth her hate,

And cares not where you lie........................

Please explain what this line of the poem means (poem is "ah, are you digging on my grave?)?
the dead girl is asking who is digging in the still soft soil above her grave, and why.

first of all she asks is it her former lover, and is he digging a hole to plant some rue (as a sign of how much he misses her).

'no,' answers the digger, 'your lover got married yesterday, to one of the richest girls in this area. he told himself you wouldn't mind, since you are dead now.'

....

and then the digger answers that he isn't her relatives, nor even her bitterest enemy while she was alive ...

so who could this mystery digger be? and why is he digging here?
Reply:"one of the brightest wealth has bred"

the girl must be one of the top picks to marry among those who belong to wealthy families.

the most beautiful, the most bright...

the guy who went to 'wed' her is a very lucky guy because he got the best girl that everyone else could only wish to have
Reply:It's means for me at least that the people in the girl's life, are not letting her rest in peace, that her after life is innterupted by the living, in effect tampering with her resting place.

What kind of top do I wear with a lace skirt?

The A-line skirt is all lavender with the pattern of small flowers, and it's lined. This is a dressy skirt and probably needs a dressy top. I prefer tops worn on the outside rather than tucked into the skirt. I would appreciate any suggestions on color and style.

how about a matching solid lavender short satin top?

Which flowers are considered a bad omen when given in sympathy?

I remember hearing that you shouldn't give someone in hospital red and white flowers on account of it being a bad omen ..

I also remember someone telling me that there are rules regarding funerals/deaths, it was something that you should avoid putting on the coffin or a certain colour you should avoid as it will show the face of the next person to die . Or something along those lines!

Anyone shed any light??

Which flowers are considered a bad omen when given in sympathy?
Red and white flowers given to anyone represents 'blood and bandages'. This originated from the first World War. Anyone wanting to buy red and white flowers as a gift, should always make sure there is another coloured flower with them and this breaks the omen.
Reply:The reason? for not mixing or giving red and white flowers is the "blood and bandages" idea.

White or mauve flowers on a coffin, only. Why I don't know.
Reply:Never give lillies to the sick, and never put irises on a coffin
Reply:lillies are for funerals
Reply:This is a placeholder
Reply:It is not a question of omens as these are just nonsense it is a question of good or bad taste.
Reply:Black Orchids are a bad omen!
Reply:All flowers are meant to be admired, not given a category. Whoever came up with the idea for a flower for this and a flower for that, must have been a florist. Great business to be in when memorials are due.
Reply:roses
Reply:Lilies are traditional for funerals because they signify purity and break negative influences.

Peonies were once thought appropriate for similar reasons. In gerneral certain flowers are associated with purity and others are linked to fairy magic occult purposes, etc. You would not present a flower that was linked with the later because it would be thought bad luck for the soul of the deceased and in turn his family.

How do you interpret the bracketed line in this quote?

“I consider the positions of kings and rulers as that of dust motes. I observe treasures of gold and gems as so many bricks and pebbles. I look upon the finest silken robes as tattered rags. I see myriad worlds of the universe as small seeds of fruit, and the greatest lake in India as a drop of oil on my foot. I perceive the teachings of the world to be the illusion of magicians. [ I discern the highest conception of emancipation as a golden brocade in a dream ] , and view the holy path of the illuminated ones as flowers appearing in one's eyes. I see meditation as a pillar of a mountain, Nirvana as a nightmare of daytime. I look upon the judgment of right and wrong as the serpentine dance of a dragon, and the rise and fall of beliefs as but traces left by the four seasons”

- Siddhartha Gautama -

How do you interpret the bracketed line in this quote?
I think the point of the whole passage (including the bracketed part) is that people have a tendency to make mountains out of molehills, as the expression goes. We imagine higher things and greater meanings, but in the end it's all just a lot of nonsense.

All those things, they are part of the natural order of the world. As such, they are not any more special than any of the other things. The whole passage reads as if he was listening to a song when he said it or wrote it. And the words and the song flowed together. I think if you try to imagine the imagery he describes as one whole (the dust, the bricks and pebbles and so forth all to the traces of the four seasons), and the other stuff as another whole (the kings and rulers, gold and gems, all to the rise and fall of beliefs), you can see that they describe the same world, but from a different perspective. One world is very elegant, poetic, and natural, so full of harmony, while the other sounds cold, harsh, and completely inelegant and devoid of harmony. It sounds so "human" I'm almost tempted to say. Or rather, it sounds like the world and values we as humans insist on living in. The first world seems like almost a heavenly dream which we cannot bring ourselves to accept as real.
Reply:Typical Buddhist apathy. They think there's some profound virtue in being addicted to nothingness. For all their so-called "wisdom" they've made darn few contributions to humanity (outside of long-winded, confusing dialogs, koans and haiku.)
Reply:Just words, with no useful meaning or interpretation.
Reply:I think this is true.

I think this is the opposite of something Shinra would say is true.
Reply:Sounds like the writer is turning things around in that sentence compared to the ones before. At first it's saying extravagant things mean nothing then it compares emancipation (freedom) to an expensive silk cloth as if freedom means nothing. But the fact that it says discern at the beginning and it's flipped around makes me think it's saying freedom is a good thing.
Reply:I believe what the Buddha was trying to convey in the bracketed words (and, actually, in this entire passage) is that all is illusion. What we perceive in the physical realm and what we hold as the highest ideals (i.e. emancipation) are illusory and fleeting at best. They cannot be grasped and held, and ideals cannot be put on a pedestal because the mind that creates them and interprets them is itself imperfect and subject to the whims of ego.

Is the original line of Herbal Essences discontinued?

I baked sugar cookies and theyr realy dry, ive been thinking to add an egg. i got the recipe off line.?

what would be beter? whole egg, just the youlk, or the white, or would something els be better like milk watter extr.?

the recipe is 1 1/2 cup butter, 3cup sugar, 4 eggs, 2 teas vanilla, 5 cups flower, 2 teas baking powder, 1 teas salt.. 400degree for 6 min

I baked sugar cookies and theyr realy dry, ive been thinking to add an egg. i got the recipe off line.?
Hi, i would add about 4 tblsp of milk :)
Reply:Yikes! That sounds like a lot of flour. Try the recipe below. I personally think Alton Brown (Food Network) is a genius.

Now you made me want sugar cookies.
Reply:If you roll your cookies, try decreasing the flour in the recipe by 1/2C.. There will be more added as you dust and cut. Also, I'd add 3 tblsps. cream and drop the oven temperature to 375 and bake 7-8 minutes. Higher heat dries more quickly. Parchment may help, too, if it is very humid where you live.
Reply:The 5 cups of flour seems like the right amount to me for the amount of butter and sugar. (I compared it to my recipe, which started as my grandmother's.) To fix the rest of the dough this time, beat an egg in a separate dish and then try adding just half and see what you think. Next time, make sure you sift the flour. If it's humid today at your house and you didn't "fluff" the flour, you added more than was intended. Don't add too much more egg/moisture or you'll have to add a lot back when trying to roll them out.

One last comment, my sugar cookies bake at 375 for 8 minutes instead of 400 for 6. That might help also!
Reply:I have a recipe for AWESOME cream cheese sugar cookies. They are the best I have ever tasted! Go to my website. http://www.the-best-homemade-gift-ideas....

The recipe is on the edible gifts page.

These are so good!

Good luck,

B
Reply:If the recipe calls for an egg, add eggs also try adding a little oil or milk
Reply:That seems like a lot of the ingredients

how many are you trying to make?
Reply:No, adding an egg won't help the dryness, but add oil or fat or shorten baking time/reduce tempture would help.

Flowers for a beginner???

I live in South Carolina and I have a very plain yard. I would like ideas of some easy care flowers that I can put in a flower bed that lines my front porch and the corners of my porch. (I have a typical house that is symmetrical in the front view and alot of shade in these areas I am asking ideas for) I also have a long (20'-25') cemment walkway in the center of the yard that I would like to plant along. I like that two tone grass that alot of people have its like I think mondo grass.....I dont know....any way I just want a pretty yard .....not expensive either incase I have a blue thumb instead of green......HELP!!

Flowers for a beginner???
Marigolds and dianthus are hardy flowering plants that will grow almost anywhere with little care. They both come back from seed. However, maigold will bloom the first year. Dianthus only blooms the second year, so you want to purchase bedding plants the first year. Periwinkles are another good choice, but they do not begin blooming as early as marigolds and dianthus, which have long blooming seasons.

If you have abundant shade with VERY LITTLE direct sun, you might try impatiens. I like the double impatiens because the bloom looks like a tiny rose. Impatiens wilt in sun or drought, though. They are beautiful, but they do like a drink often.

Coleus is another shade loving plant, but it can stand more sun than impatiens. Coleus is grown primarily for its vibrant foliage. I have always been told to pinch it back to keep it from blooming. One year I ignored the "pinch" rule and let mine go to flower. I had hundreds of tiny blue butterflies that year.

Sweet Williams like sun, but they can stand shade. They grow very tall (sometimes 3-4 feet) and have wonderful smelling flowers.

You want to experiment with looks that "fit" you. That might take a couple of seasons. Play with colors and choose your own favorites that allow your house to express your own personality!
Reply:I hope you enjoy your flowers as much as I enjoy mine! Thanks for choosing me! Report It

Reply:This is my first year for a garden too and I am sooooooooo winging it. I've chosen flowers that I think are pretty and learn if they like sun or shade and plant them in the right place. I've used a lot of annuals and a few perennials so that next year, I can add more perennials according to what I've learned so far. Gardening has become a wonderful relaxtion process for me and I hope you enjoy it as much! Good luck!!!
Reply:Walk around your neighborhood and see what others have planted that seem to be growning well. Go to a garden center or Wal-Mart or something like that and see what they sell for your area.
Reply:Hosta for the shade areas, and don't buy the striped leave ones,, buy the big green flat plaintain lilly ones. They make beautiful flowers twice a year.

Then keep watch at Wal Mart for roses that come in pink pots,, they only get them once a year and they are very low maintenance, a bush rose,, not a climber but I can't remember the name of them. I have two but do remember they always come in hot pink pots and cost about 8 bucks a piece.

This should get you off to a good start. Oh ,, garden phlox,, not creeping ones but true garden phlox,, they are a tuber and they are just beautiful and truly easy to raise, they like sun though.
Reply:One of the more important things to consider when planning a garden is whether the yard has more sun or more shade. That will dictate what plant you can have. Another is water--how much a plant needs--how much water can you afford because watering gets expensive!

One of the answers was HOSTA. They are the best for shady areas--only a few varieties are good in full sun. There are over 3,000 kinds of hosta out there! Friends and neighbors might be talked into dividing their hosta plants come this fall.

Rainbow gave great flower suggestions--write down those names and check them out at the local nursery. Watch your local stores for plant sales--they want to get rid of their stock by the 4th of July so things will be on sale.

You're lucky to be in a warmer climate--most everything will grow!

Get the book GARDENING FOR DUMMIES at the library. Or go to eBay and get gardening books--they can be cheap.

Gardening is a life long hobby and you learn something new all the time!

Hope the thumb is green! That's my 2 cents---the link below will help you plan a garden!

Why do flies perfer to sit on sh*it and not on flowers?

Okay, so I'm a medical doctor from India. Now recently I have become interested in evolutionary biology and philosophy. The question that I'm asking is: "Why flies perfer to sit on feces not on flowers? Is it because they are nasty creatures, so they like nasty things?"

Why do these ugly creatuers like bugs and scorpions, and spiders or may be snakes are found in hot (which is not good) climates and poor environmentla conditions, that line of thinking I guess...

Why do flies perfer to sit on sh*it and not on flowers?
because they want a warm moist place to lay their eggs.

And also for their lava to have something to eat. the sh*t!

if you trim it back first thing in the year right after it comes out of hirernation it will encourage it to grow i would stay away from any fertilizers it may burn the vine if there is to much nitrogen in it or if there is to much acid first i would test my soil so i knew where i was and go from there

What flowers are...?

...best to give to ladies? I mean what is supposed to be the top of line? What flowers would you give her that are the best money can buy?

What flowers are...?
Orchids, Orchids and more orchids!
Reply:If you really want it to count you should know the lady in question. Also, try to buy from a florist rather than the grocery store, as those flowers tend to last a lot longer. I myself am partial to tulips, but I also love it when my husband buys me roses. Also, if the lady is a gardner consider buying her flowers she can plant, so she can always look at them and think of you.

dont do roses, though, because they've lost originality

Is this border line bad to wear to a wedding?

I just previously posted a question about no nos at a wedding, and it got me thinking! I was planning on wearing a simple floral dress to this wedding this weekend, and now that i think about it, it has a light cream color background. it is covered in lavender tropical flowers with leaves and stuff, but there is still a light cream color throughout the dress. is this bad?? will this break the no white / cream color rule? or is it ok because it is patterned? Should i find another dress?

Is this border line bad to wear to a wedding?
If the dress looks good on you WEAR IT!!!!!
Reply:It should be fine because it has patterns. All white or all cream colors would be bad. But if its a summer wedding, you'll be dressing lightly (color wise) especially if any part of it is outside.
Reply:I think that white rule goes for solid white. I totally wouldn't care if people wore a white dress with a pattern on it at my wedding. I mean, crap.. people better know who the bride is! lol!
Reply:You are totally fine. As long as the dress isn't all white or cream, you should be fine. Don't fret it, I highly doubt anyone would object.
Reply:Sounds like your dress should be fine (even thought that "rule" is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard)
Reply:Sounds very acceptable to me. I'd wear it.
Reply:I think the rule is for white - i.e., solid white.

Attention Gardners!!!What flowers should I plant?

I am planting flowers for the first time and I have no idea what to plant. I have two beds to work with. One if full sun and one if part shade.I really would like them to bloom as long as possible. I live in Ohio. I was thinking about flats of Petunia's or Pansies...something along those lines. Also, I bought some bulbs that I have yet to plant, like Freesia and a few others, could I plant those now? I need cheap and easy if possible...I can't wait to have a garden of my own. Thanks.

Attention Gardners!!!What flowers should I plant?
Unless you really like planting every year, stick to perennials. There are so many plants that it's impossible to advise you. My preferences might not be yours. You can do contrasting garden colors or do color themes. You might like a garden with just a few types of plants or you might want a specimen garden with one or two of many plants. It's all up to you. Probably the best thing to do is to visit any place that sells magazines and look for the annual garden issues. They have great ideas and in some cases, even plans that you can follow. As far as your bulbs go, plant them in the fall - they need to over-winter in order to bloom the next season. Which, by the way, brings to mind something you might like to try to keep your garden colors year round. Bulbs can be kept indoors in pots so you can enjoy the blooms in the winter. After they bloom and the blossoms die, cut them back and put them outside in the cold for a couple of weeks, then bring them back in. They will re-bloom. Good luck and most of all, have fun!!
Reply:for your sun garden.. petunias or zinnias should be easy.

you can do begonias in the part shade.

When you plant. be sure to get a little container of osmocote or nutricote fertilizer ( you can even buy this stuff at wal-mart). it's a controlled release feeder that will help keep the flowers perky and happy all summer. After all that, spread 3" of bark mulch around the plants.. you will have an easy, inexpensive and pretty flower gardens.

Good Luck!
Reply:I think that pansies and petunias require some more care. They grow long and need to be trimmed.

I prefer maragolds and geraniums for the full sun, they are very easy to care for. For part shade begonias and impatiens are good.
Reply:Are you wanting something that you will have to plant every year (annual), or something that will come back (perrenial)? I live in northwest Ohio and I have tons of Hostas (big green leafy with stalky flowers) Coral bells (various shade of leaves with spikey flowers) Columbine (really cool looking flowers on a green plant) and Astilbe (red leaves, pink spiked flowers). All of these are perrenials. For annuals I get Dreams petunias and Gerbera Daisey's and plant them here and there for immediate splashes of color. Most bulbs are to be planted in the fall. I don't know where you live for sure, but go to your local garden center (I prefer real garden centers over Lowe's, Home Depot etc. kid of store) and simply tell them what side of the house you will be planting on, how many hours of direct sun the area gets, and if you want annuals or perrenials. I love my gardens. I also do veggies and strawberries! As for cheap and easy-petunias do not get any cheaper or easier! You can just about neglect them all summer long and they will keep blooming as long as they have a little rain! Tell the people at the garden center that you have a budget as well. Good luck-enjoy the beauty!

I dreamed I was staring at a wall lined with paintings that my friend did -- all of flowers. Mean anything?

It feels like it means something....but maybe that's just caus my friend has never drawn anything a day in her life, and then all of a sudden I'm in a dream where I'm facing a wall of these brilliant flower paintings. Strange.

I dreamed I was staring at a wall lined with paintings that my friend did -- all of flowers. Mean anything?
seeing paintings is a dream, lovely paintings, could mean that friends will assume false positions towards you. Red warns of quarrels with friends and misfortune... While white could mean big joys, success in undertakings when seen as bright and richly hued, but white flowers seen in a dismal surrounding or withered state is pain and sorrow ...

Flowers in general are of great happiness... blooms are signs of pleasures ahead... many flowers can be a legacy of wealth from an unknown relative...painted flowers however could mean someone will be worried.

A wall, simple and strong as you stand looking at it is happiness. I think in your dream the wall was only present as a place to hang the paintings, making it simply, a wall, a back drop of happiness.
Reply:It seems to me like you have noticed growth on your friend's part which is causing her to "blossom" and realize potentials she didn't have before, not necessarily artistic ones....

...but then I went looking through various dream dictionaries, and they are saying things about beautiful false fronts and illusions and things like that...

...I like the first thought better!
Reply:Seeing a wall in your dream means limitations. obstacles and boundaries. There is a barrier obstructing your progress. You may have been accustomed to your old habits and way of thinking. Dreaming that you jump over a wall, suggests that you will overcome tough obstacles and succeed. Dreaming that you demolish or break down a wall indicates that you are breaking through obstacles and overcoming your limitations. If you see a wall crumble, then it suggests that you have easily risen above your problems and overcame your barriers. Dreaming that you are building a wall, represents a bad relationship or some childhood trauma. It also suggest that you have accepted your limitations. Dreaming that you are hiding behind a wall, suggests that you ashamed in acknowledging your connections. Dreaming that you are being thrown or shot through a wall, literally means that you need to breakdown those walls that you have put up around you. You need to venture out and explore.

Seeing colorful flowers in your dream means kindness, compassion, gentleness, pleasure, beauty, and gain. It is also symbolic of perfection and spirituality. Your dream may be an expression of love, joy and happiness. Alternatively, flowers may denote a particular time or season. If the flowers are white, then it symbolizes sadness. Seeing withered or dead flowers in your dream indicates disappointments and gloomy situations. You may not be utilizing your full potential and talents. Dreaming that you receive a bouquet of flowers, represents respect, approval, admiration, and rewards. Seeing flowers blooming in barren soil means that energy and cheerful nature will enable you to overcome your grievances.
Reply:Everyone in a dream is a part of you. What qualities of your friend do you identify with? You say your friend in reality has never drawn anything. Therefore, I would say that you feel there is something you have never done, but you know you could produce amazing results from. Figure out what talent you would like to develop and give it a try.
Reply:either it means you had one too many burritos or it means that your friend has untapped potential. Not necessarily in painting but she is living well beneath her potential. The images in a dream are usually symbolic but the feeling they illicit is much more important. Red is a color of passion so maybe she is in the stages of realizing that she could be doing more. Find out what she is thinking. Maybe you could help her with it.

Wedding flowers - do we need them at all??

As weddings often do, this one is snowballing into more than I had planned -- I'm thinking of drawing the line at flowers - do we need them? The wedding is on a boat with pretty views, so we don't need them to pretty-up a drab room. Seriously, would one anyone even notice (or care) if there were no centerpieces or bouquets or corsages? These things just get thrown out after the 3 hour event anyway... thoughts?

Wedding flowers - do we need them at all??
If you're already shelling out the cash for a boat wedding, why not let the natural ambience speak for itself, rather than clutter up the lovely natural views with store-bought flowers? It is perfectly fine (not to mention eco-friendly) to forego cut flowers as decoration if you're having it in a lovely setting. As for the bouquets, why not just let each bridesmaid (if there are any) carry a single flower instead of a whole bouquet? It looks very simple and chic. Then, as the bride, you could just carry a small bouquet with simple yet elegant flowers, and those bouquets don't cost much if you don't put any expensive flowers like calla lilies, roses, or stargazer lilies in there. Believe me, nobody will care about the lack of centerpieces- in all the weddings I've been to, I have never heard anyone say, "Well, that was a fun reception, but the lack of centerpieces completely ruined it for me!" As long as they have good food, good music, and available alcohol, it will be a great party!!!
Reply:DO whatever you want. People would probably notice if you didn't have bouquet, but who really cares? I like the idea of only doing one flower and a very small bouquet for you. You could also carry a shell. It seems weird but I have read that and it fits into your theme. You could have the bridesmaids carrying smaller ones and then have a big conch for yourself. It would fit in nicely with the boat, and you could buy them whenever you want. They would also make a nice keepsake. You could also do fans or any other object you thought was nice or meaningful.

It is completely unnecessary for the centerpieces, I think the beauty of the ocean (or lake or whatever) is plenty.
Reply:You definitely don't need them. However, it would be nice to still have something in place of the bouquets or corsages. Get creative with your theme, visit a craft store, and I'm sure you could come up with something super inexpensive, and very VERY unique. :)

I am not having flowers for decor at all either, but I am still keeping bouquets and corsages, though I also thought for awhile about having my bridesmaids carry hand warmers for the winter wedding instead.

Ulitimately, it is YOUR wedding. Create the look and feel you desire :)
Reply:I agree with everybody, flowers aren't important. I didn't really like mine anyway, especially with the money they cost. The only thing I think is that it was nice to hold onto something doing the walk up to my groom. It just seems like it would be awkward to walk with your arms swinging loose? Maybe I'm crazy but I'd still carry something: candle, pick a flower outside and wrap the stem with ribbon, a present, carry your own ring pillow even, it doesn't matter. Everyone else will be fine without flowers too. Do what you want, people will just be happy to be at the party, everything else is frivolous!
Reply:The bride and groom should at least have a bouquet and a bouttoneire. This is the one thing people will notice, because everyone will be looking at them the entire night! They're easy to do yourself, however. I'm making my own bouquet and bouttoniere from roses from the local grocery store. It will cost me, in all, about 30 dollars. I have instructions if you want to e-mail me for you to do it yourself. As for everything else, yes, you can totally do away with it. We're getting married in a botanical garden, so there are more than enough flowers around for us. But you can't skip out on the bouquet and bouttoniere for the bride and groom. If there are bridesmaids, they could carry a single flower or nothing at all. However, normally the parents of the bride and the parents of the groom get a corsage and a bouttoneire. So, before you cut it out of the budget, just make sure that they won't get ticked off about it. I did, and they were completely fine with it!
Reply:Absolutely not. Decorations (flowers included in this case) are one great way to save money when planning your wedding, especially if you already have a scenic view.

The focus should not be on if anyone else will miss the sight of flowers on the big day, but whether you might. If you have an inkling that you might have a small amount of regret, then you may want to subtly incorporate them. If the ship is going to be out on the water, which I assume it will be, you'll have to take care that any flowers you do use are well anchored.

Cheers and Good Luck!
Reply:No I see no reason at all to have them unless they are something that is really important to you.

I have saved money by buying gerbera's from a lady who grows them and making our own bunches. Quite cheap really and we are having driftwood, shells and candles as our centrepieces.

Use your imagination and see what you come up with. I see nothing more silly than the thousands of dollars some girls waste on centrepieces that just die and get thrown in the trash anyways.

Good luck with the wedding.
Reply:Okay, first of all, take a breath! This is YOUR wedding! If you don't want flowers, then don't have flowers! If you don't want a dress, flowergirls, cake, singing monkeys or fourty gun salute then don't have them! This is your day! The only things you really need are a groom, marriage license and a semi-offical type person to perfom the ceremony. Now go out there and make this day your own! You can do it!
Reply:Your wedding, your rules. You are right, if you are going to be on a boat with pretty views, use what is natural. Flowers are going to be tossed hours later anyways. Do what you want to do. I think centerpieces are overrated anyways, then people can't see who is across from them... Do whatever you want.
Reply:I had a friend who did this, sort of. No floral centerpieces, but still bouquets and boutonnieres. It saved them money, and I don't think anyone missed having flowers on the tables.
Reply:I don't see any reason why you do need them. In fact, save the money for a first home. If people snivel about it, make them "Walk the plank." Should be easy to do since you'll be on a boat at the time.
Reply:Flowers are expensive, I am only doing live flowers for the ceremony and ostrich spades for centerpieces, so no flowers are need do what you want it's YOUR day.
Reply:You don't need anything you don't want... really. Cut corners wherever you can to free up the resources for something that really matters.
Reply:NO YOU CAN DO FAKE FRUIT ARRANGEMENTS
Reply:It's your wedding - if you don't want flowers, don't have flowers. (But you might want to consider a bouquet to throw..)
Reply:Try a single rose or lily instead of bouquet. Stick a candle on the tables as centerpieces and you're done with little $$

Need write a "Life Line" essay for AP Language: meaning an essay on a person who "saved my life".not literally

It could be anyone- even a kid in 5th grade who invited you to eat lunch with him and "saved your life". It is based on Maya Angelou's "Life Line" who was a neigbor named Mrs. Flowers who took notice in Maya while others didn't. I do not know who to write about. Do you think I should write about my cousin who taught me a lot of things and was always there for me because she's the only girl in her house and I am the only girl in my house (with 4 brothers) so she was like my sisterly figure and helped me with life...Do you this is a good thing to write on? Well obviously not everyone is going to have such serious topics like Maya Angelou (she was raped at a young age), but it's good enough, right?

How do you think I could spice up the essay and make it interesting? Sensory (five senses), imagery, flasback, etc%26gt;???

Need write a "Life Line" essay for AP Language: meaning an essay on a person who "saved my life".not literally
you could use your cousin.
Reply:I think writing about your cousin will be perfect, since it came to your mind first. It sounds like she had a lifeline roll.

Talk about the age you were, what was rough about that age, how tough it was to be the only sister amongst all brothers. As you write you'll remember funny anecdotes...try to remember the first time you realized that your cousin made you feel like you weren't alone.

In this you will naturally be doing a "flashback". I'm sure when you describe the antics of 4 brothers you will hit many senses ("smell" comes to mind)...teehee.

Good luck!

I need a good line drawing of a sweet pea flower for my prospective tattoo.?

Anyone know where I can find a clear drawing of a sweet pea flower? I want to get a tattoo and I want to walk in there prepared and not be like some stupid girl who has "no idea what I want".

I need a good line drawing of a sweet pea flower for my prospective tattoo.?
First off you wouldn't be "some stupid girl". Many people go to their artist with an idea, describe this idea to them, sometimes bring many pictures of the idea they have in mind, and let the artist draw them a custom tattoo. So you wouldn't be stupid. I'm sure the artist has internet access and can help you pick something out right there and even tweak it better to your liking.

Trust me you'll be a lot happier with this route, than you would be with a generic tattoo you picked on the internet! ;)
Reply:go to the library and get a book on flowers
Reply:I would let the tattoo artist know what you want and design something for you. They are more creative then the average Joe.

Google.
Reply:You know what you want already so your not stupid, tell your artist and let them come up with the design, it's their job!!! All you need to do is know where you want it and how much you wanna spend and let them do the rest.

What products are the tops sellers on line?

What do you think people buy online the most? whats hot? I am looking to sell something but dont know what to sell. I was thinking about flowers.

What products are the tops sellers on line?
That's a good question! I was going to say clothes, but I'm not sure about that.

I'm a huge e-customer. I buy everything online. I used to do that especially when I would be too phobic to leave the house.

I mostly buy CDs online, but I've bought clothes, a snowboard, musical instruments, my laptop that I'm using now, electronics (even a 70 lbs stereo)...

Oh! Electronics! That's probably the biggest seller come to think of it... I've spent a small fortune at crutchfield.com. I used to be quite the audiophile.
Reply:cds, dvds, books and wine i've heard. also name brand clothes and antiques. tools too.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

Algernon is a mouse that earlier underwent the same operation as Charlie. Algernon becomes an expert at running highly complex mazes. Charlie competes with Algernon in maze races. As the experiment progresses, Algernon’s demeanour becomes unpredictable and aggressive. This signals a problem with the experiment. Eventually, Algernon’s abilities radically regress, and he dies. Charlie comes to love the mouse and buries Algernon in his backyard, often placing flowers on the mouse’s grave.

My wedding changed from October to July this year, help with type of flowers?

I have no clue what type of flowers, or colors to use for a July wedding!! Besides roses. We already have all the dresses. Mine is ivory and gold and the bridesmaids are burgundy. I had flowers picked out for fall but I don't know if I should stick with those or go with the season. Any help will be great! I have already looked on line for pics of bouquets, but I didn't see anything great besides roses. If you have links, that would be great too! Thanks!

My wedding changed from October to July this year, help with type of flowers?
Roses are beautiful and classic...they can also get a little pricey and I am not sure what your budget is.

For the bridesmaids you could add a nice rich yellow to the bouquets to give it some color. Maybe something like this:

Or, you could go with some simple calla lilies. They are gorgeous...

Or maybe some burgundy calla lilies...

http://www.affordable-elegance.com/files...
Reply:If you are in love with the flowers you picked for your October wedding, don't change them. Be aware that flowers go in and out of season though, so the cost you were quoted for arrangements could change. The sites below will tell you what's in season during the summer vs. fall.

When I think of summer weddings, I think of bright, cheerful flowers. Gerber daisies and lilies in bold colors. I think a mix of cream and pink flowers would look great with burgundy dresses.
Reply:How about peonies? Or go to the florists and see what they say about in season flowers

Calla lillies are also good and they come in just about every color, including green. Bridesmaids could carry a mix of colors, like ivory, burgundy or pink, and green.

Orchids would also be very pretty but could be expensive
Reply:Go with wildflower arrangements, they don't cost alot and the colors are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Reply:cala lillies and tulips would be fine for most any season, in addition to roses, which you already mentioned.
Reply:you can try tiger lillys!
Reply:If you like the colors of the flowers that you already picked out I would stick with those
Reply:Bright and Warm colors is the way to go!

Colors:

Red

White

Yellow

Pink
Reply:--I would keep the flowers in the color(s) that goes with your wedding colors, instead of trying to get seasonal colors. I think that would make your wedding pictures/video look better, instead of possibly clashing.

--If you want more seasonal flower, go for it. Just keep the colors in the theme of your wedding. Besides roses, look at lilies, gerbera daisies, and orchids.

--Sorry, I don't know any links that would show great pics for bouquets using other flowers. Maybe you could look at arrangements of other flowers (mixed with nothing else) on websites such as www.1800flowers.com or www.proflowers.com and imagine them in a bouquet.
